Howdy, everyone!

Our third playtest document, and our biggest with 39 pages is The Apple Orchards, are now out for you to play!

Part of this was featured in the Sample PDF, but a lot has been updated! Plus, you'll also get an additional dungeon - the Overseer Compound, and the first boss encounter, the Gnarled Giver! This one took a bit to work on since we had to restructure a lot of the document to prepare for a design team, so a lot of work done was on the back end (including reworking our in house Creature Builder tool).

I'm hoping the next playtest doc will come out much sooner than the gap between the Gnarled Forest and Apple Orchards! Included in this doc is our ongoing rulesets as well as Mote Feats - a reward to get from certain pivotal encounters. I went ahead and wrote up a few to wet your beak, but rest assured we'll be adding more as we develop! 

I've also added some links in the doc itself so you should be able to hop around it pretty easy! If a link isn't working, or if you think we should add more links in certain areas, make sure to include that in

Brett here with your monthly Keld Fallen update!

I’m happy to report that distribution is now live for all non-Keld Fallen digital goods! If you backed or pre-ordered any of these products, they will become available once your order is locked and there is no outstanding balance on your BackerKit account.

We normally lock orders and charge cards closer to the end of the project. However, if you would prefer not to wait, you can email [email protected] using the email address associated with your BackerKit account. Let us know that you would like us to lock your order and process all outstanding charges, including any pre-orders.

Please allow us some time to process your request. Once your order has been locked and the payment has been successfully completed, your digital files will become available to download through BackerKit!

As for Keld Fallen development, we’re continuing to make steady progress. A great deal of behind-the-scenes work has been completed, including updates to our internal stat block development tools and a brand-new, cleaner layout design that will be featured throughout Keld Fallen.

We’ve also released our lore document in the Keld Fallen Playtest Server! To request access, be sure to review and complete your BackerKit survey.

Our next major goal is to release the opening chapter of Keld Fallen, The Gnarled Forest, for playtesting. This chapter will feature our new adjustable stat blocks, which allow certain Underlings to be scaled up or down, along with a new Elite creature your party will face within the forest.

Work has also begun on several other quarters of Keld, including the Apple Orchard, East Docks, and Safehaven Square. We’re currently updating several maps as well. For example, The Gnarled Forest will feature updated versions of maps originally created for our Deadbeats campaign series!

I’ve been sharing frequent sneak peeks and development updates in the Keld Fallen Playtest Server, so be sure to request access if you’re interested. If you’ve already submitted your request, hang tight! We’ll be approving another wave of members very soon, before the next playtest begins.

Hey all!

I’m excited to share that we’ve now raised over $100,000 for Keld Fallen! Thank you so much for your incredible support.

As promised, reaching this milestone unlocked a brand-new subclass that we’ll be writing for the book! We rolled for it during Monday’s stream on Twitch, and the result was:

Rogue: Detective!

For those who have watched our show Deadbeats, this subclass will be modeled after JesseCox’s character, Logan Horn. It’s the subclass I would have designed for him had we been playing Deadbeats from the very beginning!

For every additional $20,000 raised above $100,000 through pre-orders, we’ll continue adding new subclasses until all 10 of our original concepts have been selected. We’re already halfway through the list!

Howdy folks!

Wanted to let you know that we have officially sent out the Keld Fallen surveys!

Over the next week, I’ll be getting our digital downloads ready for folks who picked up WSD: Fishing and Fiendish Forge add-ons. I’ll let everyone know once those digital downloads have been pushed out. Right now, I’m making some final updates to Fiendish Forge so it aligns with our printed version when manufacturing begins.

Please make sure you fill out your survey. You will not receive access to digital downloads until your survey is completed.

We have also opened up the Keld Fallen playtest server, where all of our playtest materials will be shared. The Discord link is included in your survey.

When joining the server, you’ll be given a questionnaire where you can enter the email you used when backing Keld Fallen. Please make sure you use the same email! If we cannot find your email, we won’t be able to approve your access. We’ll be going through approvals sometime this week.

As a friendly reminder, Keld Fallen is still actively being worked on. A few folks have thought this project would be released immediately, so I wanted to clarify that we are still working on the book, including book design, game design, art, and text formatting.

Content-wise, the writing is finished, and most of the maps are done, though some still need updates. Most of our creature art is also done. We are still working on getting everything into a finished, polished state, including stat blocks and new art assets. We do not have an ETA because we believe in an “it’s done when it’s done” philosophy. It won’t be done fast, but it’ll be done right.

Soon after folks start joining the server, we’ll be dropping our first playtest document: the Lore Document. This will give you a chance to learn more about the world and the game before we begin releasing additional playtest materials.

Future playtest documents will include areas, subclasses, stat blocks, and more. Please do not publicly distribute these playtest documents. We’ll be doing our best to keep these files secure, but if we find out the files are being leaked, it means we’ll have to take extra precautions, which hurts everyone. We really want to trust that folks will be responsible with these materials.

With that, go ahead and fill out your surveys, join the playtest server, and expect another update within the next week!

Hey all!

Appreciate your patience here. I’ve been out of town for most of June, but I’ve also been working on getting the surveys and pre-order store fully functional.

Right now, we’re waiting on BackerKit’s approval to make sure everything is good to go. Once the surveys are approved, we’ll make sure the digital downloads that are already finished from previous projects are made immediately available to anyone who picked up the WSD: Fishing and Fiendish Forge digital items.

In the meantime, we’re already hard at work getting art assets together and moving our written content into the digital book itself. We’ll also be releasing playtest packets soon after the surveys go live, and the Keld Fallen Playtest Discord is already open.
